BOONE—Violinist Nancy Bargerstock presents a recital Tuesday, Feb. 19, at 8 p.m. in Broyhill Music Center’s Rosen Concert Hall at Appalachian State University. Admission is free.
Accompaning Bargerstock are Hayes School of Music faculty members Julia Pedigo, soprano, Kenneth Lurie, violoncello, Steve Sensenig, harpsichord, and Bair Shagdaron, piano.
Works on the program are “Sonata No. 3 in D Major, op. 9” by Jean Marie Leclair, “Suite for Voice and Violin” by Heitor Villa Lobos, “Three English Songs” arranged by Rebecca Clarke and “Sonata in A major” by César Franck.
Bargerstock has been a member of the Hayes School of Music faculty since August 1999. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from The Julliard School of Music in New York City and a soloist diploma in viola from the Orfeo Conservatory of Music in Athens, Greece. She earned a doctor of musical arts degree in performance from UNC Greensboro.
Bargerstock has performed in venues such as Carnegie Hall, Boston Symphony Hall, Royal Albert Hall, the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., as well as concerts throughout Europe and Asia. She was violinist for 15seasons with the Brandenburg Ensemble, one of the most prestigious and well-known international ensembles.
Bargerstock is coordinator of strings in the music school.
