American Essences

Popular American tunes form the basis of Charles Ives's Second Symphony , and the vastness of the American landscape informs Aaron Copland's ballet Appalachian Spring , whilst the flavours of baroque, impressionist and Latin American music are blended in the Guitar Concerto by Brazilian Heitor Villa-Lobos.
