Location:

Work Performed:
Bachianas Brasileiras #5

SIZZLING SYMPHONY : On Saturday night, the Claflin Hill Symphony Orchestra in Milford opens a spicy night of "Symphony and Salsa" with what conductor Paul Surapine calls "a firecracker of a piece" - Pablo de Sarasate's "Navarra: A Concerto for Two Violins."

He's sure that soloists Nicola Takov and Angel Valchinov "will dazzle the audience with their pizzicato, the swirling, intertwining lines, and the increasingly finger-twisting material put forth in this piece."

Also on the program at Town Hall, soprano Susan Benner-Bonito performs "Bachianas Brasileiras" by Heitor Villa-Lobos, and flamenco-influenced classical guitarist Daniel Salazar plays several works including "Concierto de Aranjuez" by Joaquín Rodrigo.

"Symphony & Salsa" will be performed 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Town Hall, 52 Main St., Milford. Tickets: $30-$35; students, seniors $25. Call 508-478-5924 or visit claflinhill.org.
