The Pro Musica Colorado Chamber Orchestra (formerly Lafayette Pro Musica)
Cynthia Katsarelis, Music Director and Conductor
In association with Ars Nova Singers, Thomas Edward Morgan, Artistic Director

Featuring
Maya Hoover, mezzo-soprano
Jonathan Leathwood, guitar

Embark on a journey of Latin discovery as the Ars Nova Singers, Pro Musica Colorado Chamber Orchestra, and guest soloists present the Colorado premiere of 'Oceana' a mesmerizing cantata by the gifted Argentine composer Osvaldo Golijov.  Composed in the spirit of a Bach cantata, Golijov weaves orchestra, voices, guitars, exotic percussion, and the evocative poetry of Pablo Neruda into a sensual work that both dazzles and enchants.

"Gorgeous, irresistible, simultaneously ancient and wholly new." - The Boston Globe
"Fierce, blindingly beautiful." - Newsday (a 'Best of 2007' classical music selection)

One of "10 upcoming [arts] presentations worth considering [attending] this season." Denver Post

Presented with rarely-performed works by Villa-Lobos and Radamés Gnattali (the 'Bernstein of Brazil') and infused with the virtuoso guitar of Jonathan Leathwood and gorgeous vocal talent of Maya Hoover, mezzo-soprano.  Add spice to your musical adventures with our festival of Latin music!
