What You Need to Know When Organizing a Classical Music Concert
Though some people may find classical music boring, the truth is that there are still a lot of those who are into this kind of music. When you organize a classical music concert, you will be surprised that there will be a lot of people to show up. Of course, it is not as rowdy as rock or pop concerts, but it will still be a magical night. The good thing is that there are a lot of singers who chose the classical route, and their talent will most likely appeal to quite a lot of audiences. If you are tasked to organize this kind of concert, then it is such an honor. You are organizing an event targeted mostly to the elite members of the society and those who have real and deep appreciation for the arts.
Conduct a survey
Before even starting the process, you need to know if there are enough people to watch the concert. Go around the local area and neighboring regions to see if people are willing to shell out a certain amount of money to watch classical singers. Of course, not all classical singers are as big as Justin Bieber or Katy Perry. Therefore, you can’t expect a big demand coming from the younger audiences. You should also include in the survey the amount they are willing to pay for just to watch a classical concert. It is better to have a more realistic view before you start organizing the concert to avoid disappointments later on.
Get the best venue and sound system
Venue and acoustics are everything when it comes to classical music. You can’t just hold this kind of concert in an open ground or a cheap location. It has to be exquisite. This is also a way of showing respect to the art. An audio system that will bring out the natural voices and talents of the singers is also a must. You can’t afford technical problems along the way since it will affect how people view the singers.
Organize a committee
Concerts are so huge and there are so many details to look into. From the security of the artists to the logistical issues concerning the audience, everything has to be taken care of. A small team won’t be enough. There should be someone leading each aspect of the concert. Otherwise, it will spell disaster. You don’t want to keep running around just because you have not assigned someone to look into a specific detail.
Prepare the red carpet
For sure, VIP guests are coming to see this concert. They will also be dressed well. It is fitting that a red carpet be laid out on the venue. Of course, it has to be clean and in perfect condition. You don’t have to buy a new one as it will be another expense. You can just use a top rated carpet cleaner to have an old carpet cleaned out. You can also check carpet cleaner reviews for steam mop recommendations. This is an important detail you can never go wrong with.
Once you have prepared everything, you can expect great results.
Interview with Some Amateur Musicians
We took a survey of some amateur musicians. These men and women record music almost every day. These people have full-time jobs, family, and friends and still make time to create music. We asked some of our amateur musicians some essential questions about music and life. We took the best answers to these questions and posted the below to give you a better idea of how you can do the same.
- What is your name? Where are you from? Where do you live now? What do you do for a living?
- My name is David. I was born in Boston, Massachusetts. I live and work in Washington DC now. I went to the George Washington University and studied nursing. That is where I also where I re-discovered my love for music. I work as a full-time critical care flight nurse and part time registered staff nurse in Northern Virginia.
- How did you discover your passion for music? When did you start making music?
- I discovered my love for music when I was really young. I have played the guitar and saxophone my whole life. My father introduced me to instruments and music when I was really young. He played in a band for 30 years. Every week he played at a small restaurant and we go and watch him play.
- I started making music when I was in high school. I started in a music class. My best friends and I recorded 5 songs in the school studio. I was hooked. I had so much fun recording and performing music. It is like a science. You need to see which sounds fit together the maximize the likeness of the music. I have been recording ever since.
- How do you find time work a full-time job? And record music?
- Well, I am a flight nurse so I only work 2 or 3 days a week. However, those shifts are 24 hours long. The job is pretty stressful and nerve wracking but it so much fun. You also help a lot of people and gain valuable skills. I can still advance my career and record music. They can take it out of you, but you only need a day to recover. Either way, I can find 2 or 3 days a week to record. It is great.

My Top 3 Favorite Health Benefits of Music
In today’s world we find that music plays an important role in human life, just as it has for millennia.
But just how impactful has music been for humanity? And can music really improve the quality of our lives – even to the point of helping us heal?
It’s hard to argue that music doesn’t exhibit some healing qualities in the minds of its listeners. Just about everyone enjoys a good tune. And just about everyone has at some point felt completely absorbed in music – often during very emotionally turbulent times. In this state of absorption we can track of time and simply meld into the sounds (and find that our anxieties have often melted away, too.)
Yes, there are legitimate healing benefits of music. And it’s not just hearsay, either. There are a number of documented health benefits benefits that I’ll go over in this article.
There are far more benefits to music than what’s mentioned below, but today I want to just focus on four of my favorite healing qualities found in music of all forms.
1. Music Reduces Stress
Perhaps the most prominent benefit of music is it’s ability to calm our minds and reduce the stress in our lives.
Not a single human culture on the planet has lived without music. For many communities past musical ceremonies were the glue that bonded a group, especially in times of emotional and physical turmoil.
Modern research has solidified our understanding of the stress relieving qualities of music. The research has shown that listening to music that resonates with us triggers biochemical stress reduction activity inside the brain.
The results are a diminished stress response in the individual. Sometimes the stress-limiting effects are so pronounced that they can even relieve symptoms of chronic depression. Many individuals who are depressed finds themselves stuck in a fight/flight state. Listening to slow, classical or meditative music can alter the speed and frequency of brain waves and slow down the overactive mind associated with depression and induce a more relaxed, therapeutic state in the brain. Inducing these states can sometimes free a person from their chronic depressive states.
2. Music Eases Pain and Discomfort
In addition to stress reduction and emotional healing music can even relieve physical pain. The way music affects our brains it can diminish the receptivity of the pain receptors in the brain.
Many schools of medicine appreciate this benefit of music and music can be found in facilities that provide as geriatric care, intensive and a large variety of alternative medicines.
I have first hand experience with music’s ability to distract from pain. Years ago when I used to work at a child care clinic I picked up a contagious skin mite called scabies. Scabies causes terrible itchy skin and is notoriously difficult to get rid of.
I had to spend two months dreadfully itchy, night and day. I spent most of that time cooped up in my room listening to some of my favorite composers. It definitely helped ease my mind and take my attention off of my painful, itchy skin!
3. Music Stimulates Learning Skills
Several studies have been done on music and learning, especially among children. The results have shown that music can, especially if listed to at an early age, can improve verbal, visual and communication skills.
Children studied between the ages of 4 to 11 showed overwhelming increases in their IQ levels in these respective skill sets when involved in extra-curricular music classes. Even infants that were studied benefit from enhanced learning skills from musical involvement.
But these benefits are not just for children, people of all ages can improve their learning skills with the help of music.
I personally have found that music, as long as it’s not too distracting, helps me to focus and perform better when studying and exercising.
