This performance includes more music than the famous LP from the 1950s with Villa-Lobos conducting and Bidu Sayao singing. This is a tribute to Alfred Heller's scholarship and his connections (he was Villa's assistant in the late 1950s). Heller and his Russian orchestra are excellent, and Renée Fleming's singing is superb.
