Westchester Entertainment NewsScarsdale, NY - The Hoff-Barthelson Music School is pleased to present cellist Maxine Neuman on Sunday, January 13 at 4 pm at Scarsdale Community Baptist Church, Popham and Autenrieth Roads in Scarsdale. She will be joined by guitarist Peter Ernst, with whom she performs as the Claremont Duo.

The program for the recital ranges from pieces of the Baroque to Contemporary. Works will include Bach's Air; Villa Lobos' Aria from Bachianas No. 5; the always delightful Golliwogg's Cakewalk from the Debussy Children's Corner; Joaquin Nin's Seguida Espaňola; Granados' Danza espagnola No 1 and No. 5; Manuel de Falla's Danza del molinero from his famous el sombrero de tres picos; Astor Piazzola's Fracanapa and Libertango; and Jaime Zenamon's Reflexoes No. 6.

The Claremont Duo is an exceptionally exciting combination; the cello's warmth and the guitar's delicate timbres are unified in the hands of Maxine Neuman and Peter Ernst. Since 1998, this duo has enthralled its international public with its brilliant virtuosity, interpretive elegance and refreshing performance presentation. The Duo's broad repertoire includes an extensive body of commissioned works written for them. The Duo recently issued its second CD, "Divertimento," on Artek Records.

Tickets for the January 6 recital are $14 general, $13 seniors, $12 Friends of Hoff-Barthelson, and free of charge for students. Tickets and information: 914-723-1169.
