Maracanã Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Heitor Villa-Lobos
This LP on the Aries label (LP901) shows up occasionally on eBay and in used record stores.
I'm assuming that the Maracanã Symphony Orchestra is related somehow to the Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, built for the 1950 World Cup. I'm not sure if this is a live recording or not.
According to the Brazilian composer Harry Crowl, this recording was made in 1944 by the Werner Janssen Orchestra in Los Angeles (at the Hollywood Bowl, perhaps?) This would be from the November 21, 1944 concert, I believe.
Good luck finding this disc! But thanks to the Brazilian Concert Music blog you can download the album in MP3 format.
