City of London Festival 2010
Artur Pizarro - Thursday 01 July
Time: 19:30
Stationers' Hall
Artur Pizarro, among whose accolades has been winning the Leeds International Piano Competition, is one of Portugal's foremost performers and a specially featured artist of this year's Festival. This concert really captures the essence of the 2010 Festival. The Portuguese-speaking world is represented by the Brazilian Villa-Lobos, who pays tribute to both Bach and Chopin (200 years old in 2010). Bach is the parent of this programme, revered by Schumann (also 200 years old), Chopin and Villa-Lobos; and Schumann, in his ‘Forest Scenes', perfectly reflects the Festival's environmental theme.
