"South of the Border"
Davis Arts Council
"South of the Border" featuring music with a fiery latino flavor on a cold winter's night. Featured performers include several WSU faculty members. Program:
- Bachianas Brasileiras by Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-lobos movement No. 5 with Soprano, Dr. Karen Brookens and an ensemble of 8 celli directed by Dr. Michael Palumbo (the piece was also recorded by Joan Baez!)
- Soprano Martha Gutierrez, also on the vocal faculty of WSU will perform a group of Spanish songs
- Violinist Elissa Krebbs with pianist Diane Bastian will play Capriccio Espagnole by Emmanuel Chabrier
- Also on the program will be classical guitar and an ensemble of Peruvian flutes
