Quintet of the Americas in Concert on June 24 at The Jewish Center of Jackson Heights, Queens
New York, NY – The Quintet of the Americas will present two very special concerts on Friday, June 22 – 7:30 PM at New York University’s Loewe Auditorium, 35 West 4th Street in Manhattan and on Sunday, June 24 – 4 PM at the Jewish Center, 37-06 77th Street in Jackson Heights, Queens.
The June 22 concert, presented as part of the NYU Summer Institute for Woodwind Quintets, will feature the Quintet of the Americas performing the premiere of Marc-Antonio Consoli’s Varie Azioni V (commissioned by the Quintet of the Americas with funding from the New York State Council on the Arts), Steven Stucky’s Serenade, Neil Rolnick’s Ambos mundos (commissioned by the Quintet of the Americas) and other quintet masterworks.
This concert is free and open to the public and is sponsored by The Steinhardt School of Education, Department of Music and Performing Arts of New York University. The June 24 concert, presented by the Latin American Cultural Center of Queens in partnership with the Quintet Of The Americas and composers Neil Rolnick and James Cohn, will feature Mr. Rolnick’s Ambos Mundos and Mr. Cohn’s Fiesta Latina along with Villa-Lobos’ Choros 2, Steven Stucky’s Serenade, Paquito D’Rivera’s Aires tropicales, Jorge Olaya Muñoz’ Colombian Dances and Ernesto Lecuona’s La comparsa.
