The YouTube Symphony gave its debut concert at Carnegie Hall on April 15, 2009. Conductor Michael Tilson Thomas obviously had a lot of confidence in his string players, to program Bachianas Brasileiras #9. This music sounds like it would be hard enough for everyone to play even if they hung out together all the time. The concert is great from start to finish, but Villa-Lobos lovers will want to skip to the 43:00 mark. Bravo!
