This CD was a revelation when I first heard it in 2000. Though it was included in the late-50s Villa-Lobos par lui-meme CD set, Choros #11 is not one of the Villa-Lobos staples. I never really warmed up to that recording. It was a nice surprise when Ondine came up with a well-recorded, well-played modern version of the complete score.
This is awesome, if not especially carefully structured, music, beautifully played. It sounds great, and Ondine's presentation is superb.
