The identical recording was released in Brazil as Heitor Villa-Lobos concertos para solistas e orquestras, on the Kuarup label. I'm not sure which release came first.
The instrumental aristocracy of the Villa-Lobos world in Brazil take on three of the most important concertante works by Villa-Lobos:
- Turibio Santos in the Guitar Concerto
- Paulo Moura in the Saxophone Fantasia
- Noel Devos in the Ciranda das sete notas
The Orquestra de Câmara Brasileira accompanies the soloists under the direction of Bernardo Bessler, and also contributes Bachianas Brasileiras #9.
Good luck finding this CD - try eBay or Amazon sellers.
