This disc was the second of the three modern recordings of this impressive work (after the 2001 Koch recording with Gisèle Ben-Dor, and before the 2008 cpo recording with Carl St. Clair.) The work was written in 1952, in celebration of the 400th anniversity of the city of Sao Paulo.
