- March 13, 1944: Villa-Lobos conducts the first performance of BB#7, with the Orquestra do Teatro Municipal, Rio de Janeiro.
- Nov. 19: Villa performs his own music with the Janssen Symphony Orchestra in Los Angeles, on his first trip to America.
Works
- Bachianas Brasileiras #8 - written in Rio in 1944, it wasn't published by Max Eschig until 1947. The work received its first performance on August 6, 1947, with Villa-Lobos conducting the Orchestra of the Academy of St. Cecilia in Rome.
