Amazonas in QueenslandDate: 02/06/2010 - 19:00 Location: Australia: Brisbane Work Performed: Amazonas Queensland Symphony Orchestra Presented by Queensland Symphony Orchestra in partnership with Brisbane City Council 7pm Saturday 6 February Conductor Benjamin Northey Vine Celebrare Celeberrime Carl Vine is considered one of the greatest and most original Australian composers. Symphony No.4.2, one of his most compelling works, is full of textural and rhythmic contrasts ranging from dominant percussion sections to lush string harmonies. Villa-Lobos pioneered lush jungle effects in his orchestration and influenced a whole generation of composers including Messiaen. Amazonas conjures up the region and river in a compact tone poem full of colour, light and exotic sounds. Key 1
