4. Symphony No 104 in D, 'London' - (Franz) Joseph Haydn

Helix Ensemble returns to Countesthorpe with a warming concert including music in a South American style, by Romero and Villa-Lobos. This theme continues with ‘Rhapsody on a Spanish Theme', a guitar concerto composed by Alan Thomas who will also be the soloist. We conclude with Haydn's last symphony the ‘London Symphony'.

Helix Ensemble is a small group of experienced players from the East Midlands who have given many concerts in churches and universities around the region. We will be directed by a Venezuelan conductor, Natalia Luis-Bassa who grew up in Caracas, has conducted the Simon Bolivar Youth Orchestra and is now a professor of conducting at The Royal College of Music, as well as conducting several British ensembles. If you watched the BBC series, 'Maestro' you may recognise Natalia, as she was one of the Mentors.
