College stages three concerts

4:40pm Saturday 30th July 2011

THERE will be a series of three concerts at St Edmund's Hall, Malvern College, this summer as part of the Malvern Wind Chamber Music summer course.

The first is on Tuesday, August 9, at 5.30pm and a sextet will play music by Poulenc. Admission is by programme on the door and costs £8 or £5 for under 18s, students, OAPs and unwaged.

The second concert is on Thursday, August 11, at 8pm and is by an innovative new trio Cuillin Sound. Three of Britain's leading wind players will perform a colourful programme of great classical miniatures, including music by Poulenc, Villa-Lobos and variations on La Follia and folk song settings from Shetland and the Scottish Hebrides. Admission is again by programme on the door and costs £10 or £8 for unwaged, under 18s, OAPs and students.

The final concert, Malvern Winds, is on Friday, August 12, at 5pm. This is a concert of wind chamber music performed by players on the Malvern Wind Chamber Music summer course. Admission is free.
