The Choros series contains Villa-Lobos's greatest music, so it was great to see this disc released back in 2003. There's been no word on v. 2 yet, but in the meantime there's lots of great music on this disc. The Gran Canaries PO performance of Choros #06 is especially impressive. It's also great to have the series started, as VL meant it to be, with the fascinating overture Introduction to Choros.
