Ellen Ballon, the Canadian pianist, commissioned the first piano concerto, and performed the premiere on Oct. 11, 1946, at the Teatro Municipal in Rio. Her classic LP recording hasn't yet been re-released on CD. It may be available on eBay or from used record stores.
2010 Update: this classic recording is finally available on CD, as part of an Ernest Ansermet pairing of the Villa-Lobos Piano Concerto and Albeniz's Iberia & Navarra. This disc is from Australian Eloquence #480045.
