Sonia Rubinsky, piano
This disc is very welcome - at last we have an easily-available collection of the first 9 volumes of the 11-volume Guia pratico. Rubinsky's playing is, as usual, exemplary, and Naxos provides fine piano sound.

Jed Distler's review on Classics Today.
I enjoyed this review of the Guia pratico disc by Amazon reviewer J. Scott Morrison. I've only recently started to pay closer attention to Amazon reviews. Morrison is a Top 50 Reviewer - browsing his more than 1600 reviews shows the breadth of his classical music interests as well as his critical acumen.
Glyn Pursglove's review on MusicWeb International.
Arthur S. Leonard's interesting discussion of Guia pratico and the Rubinsky recording. His Pierre Boulez anecdote is instructive. Villa-Lobos's music seems to be "travelling" a trifle better these days than in the early 70s. I would not, by the way, agree with Leonard's characterization of Villa-Lobos as "...an old-fashioned tonal folk-music oriented composer."
