As part of its 65th anniversary celebration, Limón Dance Company, under the direction of Carla Maxwell, will perform a world premiere pairing world renowned Cuban composer/performer Paquito D'Rivera with Rodrigo Pederneiras, the principal choreographer of Grupo Corpo, Brazil's leading contemporary dance company. This full-company work, Paquito's first dance commission and Rodrigo's first commission for a US dance company, will stretch the boundaries of Limón's legacy by uniting extraordinary music and dance. The program will also include a revival of Limón's 1956 masterwork The Emperor Jones, based on the powerful Eugene O'Neill play and set to the resonant music of Heitor Villa-Lobos.

Due to an unavoidable change in performers schedules concert has been rescheduled to Tuesday June 19, 7:30pm. Tickets issued for the prior date (6/22) will be honored on the new date.

Strings rule the Great Hall stage as TownMusic artistic director Joshua Roman, former principal cellist with the Seattle Symphony, performs with a cello ensemble he hand-picked-Julie Albers, Efe Baltacigil, Richard Belcher, Meeka DiLorenzo, Roberta Downey, Chuck Jacot, and Walter Gray-in a program featuring a newly commissioned work by musician/DJ/composer Mason Bates. The program also features La Muerte del Angel and La Resurreccion del Angel by Astor Piazzolla, Richard Strauss' Beim Schlafengehen (one of his final completed works from Four Last Songs), the otherworldly Fratres by Arvo Pärt, Hector Villa-Lobos' beloved Bachianas Brasileiras #1, Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin (arr. Roman), and much more!
