The Pleeth Cello Octet
Jill Gomez, soprano
Peter Manning, violin
The original 1993 disc on Hyperion was always one of my favourites, but it was getting hard to find. I'm so pleased that it's been re-issued on Helios, at mid-price, and easily found in online stores.
Both Bachianas performances are great, but the real reason to check out this disc is to hear the relatively rarely performed Suite for Voice and Violin. I also really enjoy the Preludes and Fugues, as arranged by their greatest fan, Heitor Villa-Lobos.
