On Friday, May 29, 2009, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra will feature conductor Miguel Harth-Bedoya and cellist Yo-Yo Ma performing Atlanta School composer Osvaldo Golijov's Azul, as part of the "Música Ardiente" Festival. Also on the program is Heitor Villa Lobos Bachianas Brasileiras No.4, Piazolla's Tangazo, and Esteban Benzecry's From Colores de la Cruz del Sur.

Yo-Yo Ma performs AZUL, The Soul of Argentina

Cellist Yo-Yo Ma, one of the true multi-genre superstars, collaborates with the Argentinean-born composer and ASO partner Osvaldo Golijov and conductor Miguel Harth-Bedoya in an evening of stirring Latin-American music. The program includes Golijov's Azul, for cello and orchestra, which Mr. Ma world premiered several years ago, and works by Villa-Lobos and Piazzolla.

Yo-Yo Ma's appearance in Symphony Hall is made possible through a generous gift by an anonymous donor.
