Heitor Villa-Lobos war fasziniert von den Rhythmen und Klangfarben
der brasilianischen Popularmusik. In seinen Werken sollte er sie
salonfähig machen. Der gebürtige Argentinier Mauricio Kagel galt
als Enfant terrible,
weil es ihn nicht interessierte, wie »man« komponiert.
In seiner Komposition »Schwarzes Madrigal«, geschrieben
zum 75. Jubiläum des Berliner Rundfunkchors (Uraufführung 2000),
verwirklichte er seinen alten Traum. Fasziniert von afrikanischer
Musik, vertonte er hier Namen afrikanischer Städte, Dörfer und Ansiedlungen.
In der Musik ist kein einziges Zitat zu finden, dennoch
klingt sie »afrikanisch«. Mit ebenso offenen Ohren komponiert Kagels
Landsmann, Marcelo Toledo. Er forscht nach Neuem, unter anderem
mit der experimentellen Gruppe »Indiklextomink«, und arbeitet in
seinem Instrumentalensemble »El Altillo« an der Verknüpfung zeitge-
nössischer
Musiktechniken mit Tango-, Volks-, ethnischer und Jazz-
musik. Davon wird auch sein neues Werk geprägt sein, das in diesem
Konzert uraufgeführt wird.

David Costa e grupo Music'Ação fazem homenagem a Villa-Lobos

O evento ‘Villa-Lobos - Um Sentimento de Brasilidade' prossegue no Teatro Guarany com concerto do pianista David Costa, sexta-feira (12), e apresentação do Music'Ação - Grupo de Fôlego, sábado (13), ambos às 20h, com ingresso livre.

Santista com 10 álbuns gravados no Brasil e Europa, e vários prêmios conquistados, David Costa formou-se como pianista clássico aos 17 anos. Suas atuações renderam elogios da crítica especializada, como revelação da música brasileira.

O ‘Music'Ação - Grupo de Fôlego', formado por Maria de Lourdes de Carvalho (flauta), Mario Marques (clarineta), Mariana Bergsten (fagote) e Regina Schlochauer (piano), exibirá o seguinte repertório: Ciranda das Sete Notas, Choros nº 2, Bachianas nº 6 e Fantasia Concertante (todas de Villa-Lobos), além de Choros para Flauta e Piano (Ernesto Nazareth, Patápio Silva e Villani-Côrtes). NightLights II takes us to Latin America with Argentine-American composer Alejandro Rutty. Dance forms provide inspiration for the works of Rutty, Ginastera, and Villa-Lobos.

We'll talk about the works from the stage and give insights into the compositions and their
performance.

Duo Brazil to perform at Christ Church Cathedral Ottawa on March 13th - 8: 00 P.M.

OTTAWA, Feb. 26 /CNW Telbec/ - Cathedral Arts is pleased to announce that DUO BRAZIL, the exciting new ensemble created by Ottawa's internationally renowned soprano, Donna Brown, along with guitar virtuoso, Andrew Mah in 2007, will perform music of Brazil at Christ Church Cathedral, 420 Sparks Street, on Saturday, March 13th at 8:00 P.M.

These two great Canadian musicians will present a night of evocative tropical magic, showcasing some of the very best Brazilian music across both popular and classical idioms. The programme will include music by Baden Powell, Jobim, Villa Lobos, Garoto and others.
