BB#5 in TopekaDate: 02/23/2009 - 19:30 Location: USA: Topeka KS Work Performed: Bachianas Brasileiras #5 Soloist featured at Washburn University Symphony Orchestra concert TOPEKA - Soprano Victoria Sofia Botero and the Lawrence Free State High School Orchestra will be special performers at a concert by the Washburn Symphony Orchestra at 7:30 p.m., Monday, Feb. 23, in White Concert Hall on the WU campus. No admission is charged and the public is welcome. Botero will perform "Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5" by Heitor Villa-Lobos, reprising a presentation at the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage. She is pursuing a master's degree in vocal performance at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and teaches at the Kansas City Community School for the Arts. Also on the program will be Symphony No. 8 in B minor, D. 759 "Unfinished" by Franz Schubert. The Washburn orchestra is conducted by Norman Gamboa. |
