How to Book

For many people the idea of "classical music" begins with Mozart, and where better to begin than with the scintillating overture to the comedy of love, class and personal morality that helped kick-start a wave of revolutionary activity that would transform all Europe?

Franck was 65 when he finished his magnificent, burnished symphony. This is one of most popular of all French orchestral works.

Villa-Lobos absorbed all the musical influences around him - the classical music his father loved, the street music of his native Rio de Janeiro - to create a kaleidoscopic musical picture of Brazil. His delightful guitar concerto, created for fabled virtuoso Andrés Segovia, has the propulsive rhythms and "heat haze" atmosphere so characteristic of his music.

Ticketholders can also enjoy free 30-minute recital before each concert on the Town Hall organ, commencing at 6.30pm.

Event Duration: 1hr 23mins
